Stay Connected in Tropical Paradise

Heading to Fiji for a getaway but not quite ready to escape completely from the real (digital) world? We don’t blame you. When you’re surrounded by palm fringed islands and turquoise blue lagoons, it’s only natural you’d want to capture all your picture-perfect travel moments for Instagram.

Internet Access in Fiji

Internet access and mobile reception in Fiji can vary from location to location.
If you’re within major tourist hubs and resorts in Nadi and Suva, you can expect reliable Wi-Fi access and high speed internet. However, if you’re on the outlying or remote islands, internet services can be expensive, minimal or even non-existent.
There are several Wi-Fi hot spots, internet cafes and backpacker lodgings scattered around the main towns of Viti Levu, including Nadi, Port Denarau, Lautoka, Sigatoka, Pacific Harbour and Suva, offering internet access at a charge. Rates usually start at $10 per hour or more.

Wi-Fi at Nadi International Airport

Wi-Fi is available at Nadi International Airport for a fee.
The four airport internet kiosks are located in the following areas of the Terminal Building: Old Domestic Building, New International Departures Lounge and New Domestic Terminal.
Hotspots are also available throughout the Domestic Terminal, and the International Arrival and Departures Terminals.
Travellers can purchase time or data through credit card payments online, or purchase an Internet Card from any of the following airport outlets:

  • Old Domestic CafĂ©
  • Prouds Express
  • Prouds Departure Duty Free Shop
  • Cafe (at new Domestic Terminal)

Rates & charges:

  • 30 minutes or 200MB – FJ $5 (available on vouchers)
  • 1 hour or 60MB – FJ $9 (credit card or online)
  • 1 day or 160MB – FJ $20 (credit card or online)

Hotels & Resorts

Hotels and resorts in Fiji don’t offer free Wi-Fi as a standard, with most charging a nominal fee in various manners.
Some resorts provide free internet access only at specific areas of the resort, such as the bar or at the lobby, whilst others provide free Wi-Fi access in set time blocks (e.g. 30 minutes a day). Smaller, budget resorts tend to issue prepay cards to guests, whereby credits are deducted in 15-minute increments.
Larger resorts and hotels on the main island are better enabled for internet reception, often offering complimentary Wi-Fi to guests as part of a package, or internet access in their office services suites.

Pre-Paid Data Plans and SIM Cards

Vodafone and Digicel are the two main mobile service providers in Fiji, offering pre-paid data bundles for smartphones, tablets and laptops.

Both operators have offices located at Nadi International Airport, where travellers can conveniently sort out a bundle package catered to their needs upon arrival. Alternatively, you can also buy a SIM card (or SIM and USB Flashnet) to cater to your Fiji stay.
