Entry & Departure Requirements for Fiji

Get to know what’s expected of visitors ahead of time, so you can arrive and depart from island paradise with peace of mind.

Passports & Immigration

All visitors travelling to Fiji are required to present the following documents at immigration clearance:

  • A passport that’s valid for at least six months beyond your intended stay in Fiji
  • Return ticket to country of residence or citizenship
  • Completed and signed immigrations Arrival Card
  • Confirmed address in Fiji (hotel or resort accommodation is fine)
  • Visa Approval Letter from the Fiji Department of Immigration if the traveller is NOT a citizen of these visa-exempt countries

Citizens from visa exempted countries are NOT required to obtain a visa when travelling to Fiji. A free tourist visa for four months is granted on arrival. This list covers more than 100 countries and includes Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, USA, Canada, and most EU member states.

Citizens who are excluded from the visa exempted countries MUST apply for a visitor’s visa through a Fijian embassy abroad prior to arrival. It usually takes 3 working days to process visa applications from the date of receipt by the Visa Officer. However always factor in delays and contingencies, and submit your visa application well ahead of time. Once approved, you will receive a visa approval letter with information on validity of the visa and duration of the stay in Fiji.

Work permits are required if you intend to study, live and work in Fiji. For visa extensions, apply through Fiji’s Department of Immigration.

Visitors travelling by sea and arrival by boat are subject to the same visa requirements as those arriving by plane.
